Through this initiative, Giorgio Armani looks to support the next generation of screen talent entering the film industry. For the first edition of Armani/Laboratorio, held from November 27th to December 6th, 2017 at the Armani/Silos exhibition space in Milan, the short film “Una Giacca” (A Jacket) was created as a result of an intensive workshop dedicated to film students. Nine exceptional mentors selected the students and guided them throughout the process, from theoretical and practical lessons to the shooting and final editing of the short film.

“The jacket represents one of the fundamental elements of my aesthetic, and transforming it into a narrative theme was undoubtedly a challenge. I was fascinated to see how the participants of Armani/Laboratorio resolved this question, with the help of their excellent mentors. I’m pleased to have given these students a real opportunity to learn and to grow, and I’m glad I did so within the parameters of my professional territory. By supporting this initiative, I am encouraging young talent to explore all the specific areas of expertise necessary for a successful and authentic cinematic production, which relies on teamwork. I’m really proud of this project and of its outcome, and I hope it will be the first in a long series of works, because cinema has always been my true passion.”
